Re: Reverse of photo translation?
Hi Melvin
it was the Ju52/3m-11, Werk.Nr. 7596 Regards - Rainer @edit Very interesting - I just see that General Dietl has signed at 30.1.1941 my fathers Narvik Shield Certificate as "General der Gebirgstruppen" and "Befehlshaber der Gruppe Narvik" |

Re: Reverse of photo translation?
I've also found this :
"In the morning of 23.06.1944 he started from Graz to Aspern near Vienna. When approaching the 1,800 meter high mountain Hochwedel Dietls Ju52 came into a gust from valley, fell and crashed on the Hartberg in Steiermark." "With him died the Knight's Cross Infantry General (Ritterkreuzträger General der Infantrie) Thomas Emil von Wickede and the General of Mountain Troops (General der Gebirgstruppe) Karl Eglseer, commanding general of the XVIII. Mountain Corps. (kommandierender General des XVIII. Gebirgs-Korps)". "On 2.July 1944 he (Dietl) was buried at the Northern Cemetery in Munich in a solemn act of state" Rainer |
