Looking for first names for several 3.(F)/123 Do17P crewmen during 9.39 PC

Hello,

Here at the EoE WG (Working Group) we've recently completed translation of the unit KTB during the Polish Campaign. This includes the individual reports for each combat mission flown. Since we're now endeavoring to provide full names of all crewmen mentioned in our massive losses/damages/casualties DB for all sides 1939-40, here are names and incident dates for which we're seeking further info, all from 3.(F)/123, flying aboard Do17Ps (FNU = First Name Unknown):

1) 7.9.39: Uffz FNU Dürr unwounded BO aboard damaged Do17P.

2) 11.9.39: Fw FNU Schmid & Uff FNU Deutschman MIA aboard Do17 that failed to return. Name of BO known. Unknown first names & crew positions for these two.

3) 12.9.39: Obfw FNU Ziegenbalg unwounded FF aboard damaged Do17P.

4) 17.9.39: Fw FNU Herbst, unwounded FF of badly damaged Do17P aboard which was a known fatality.

Who can help? Please note information sources.

Regards,

Fw. Herbst - there is FB on Walter Waiss' list for a Karl-Heinz Herbst who flew with 3./123, though the first FB Waiss has for this pilot starts on 31-Aug-40. Could this be the same guy?

Uffz. Dürr - again, could it be the same guy?

Hello,

Thanx Matti and Jim. Heinrich Ziegenbalg has such an usual name that this almost certainly has to be the correct person. Regarding Herbst, I see that there is a copy of his FB in the Walter Waiss Coll, but it is not one of the FB that we possess in the EoE Project. Looks like a good prospect, however, for the correct person. Does anyone possess a copy of this FB that they would be willing to share with our project? We have several hundred but not that particular one.

Dürr is possible but is probably a longer shot, although his rank and crew position is appropriate.

Regards,
