Stupid Question?

OK, to paraphrase "Animal House", a really stupid and meaningless question:

What were the mounted units escorting William and Catherine from Westminster Abby to the palace after their wedding?

I think it was the Household Cavalry and the Brigade of Guards, but I am likely wrong!

Re: Stupid Question?

Wait until you get started on the ranks in different units (gunners, bombardiers, troopers, kingsmen, serjeants with a "j" or sergeants with a "g", lance-sergeants ...) let alone the correct use of "regiment", "battalion" and "brigade" in different contexts. I think it all goes back to when this or that 17th century aristocrat would raise troops for the Civil War and fit them out at his own expense.
