Halifax Losses over Germany June 1944

Good evening,

is anyone here who has an overview about the losses of Bomber Command in June 1944? Were there some Halifax losses over Germany? Or only over France cause of D-Day. I am searching for a Halifax loss in the Rhine/Main area in June 1944. I don't have more information. Hope that somebody can help.

Cheers

Hello Seeker,

of course there were some Halifax losses in June 1944 over Germany - but none in the Rhine-Main area.

Could you specify the crash site?

Regards,

Heuser

Hello Heuser thanks for your answer. It is in the triangle Darmstadt,Mannheim,Michelstadt/Odenwald. I know a lot Halifax losses in this area (especially Odenwald), but they don't fit with the month. And I don't think that I erred in my notes. Maybe it was a Lancaster? But I noted Halifax.

Cheers

Hi Seeker,

if you name an exact location (town or village), I'll try to find a matching loss.

Several allied a/c crashed in the area between Darmstadt, Mannheim and Michelstadt, so this not very helpful.

Regards

Heuser

Hi Heuser, thanks for the message. That's the problem which makes it so complicated. There is no exact loaction known. It was said "over the Odenwald area". I am aware of the problem that there were several crashes in this area. Most of them are in my database. But not all.
Try Fürth (there was a Halifax crash in August 1943 P/O Macwatt, not what I'm searching for, I am familiar with the case),Erbach,Michelstadt. These are the bigger communities.

Cheers
