US-British talks in 1941/1942
In late 1941 and especially early 1942 there were talks between the US and the British military authorities about the establishment of the 8th Air Force in England. The US needed (land for) bases, but also logistical support in getting fuel, ammunition etc etc to enable their future operations.
Does anyone know where the (British) documentation of these talks is kept? I assume it must be 'somewhere' in Kew, but if somebody is able to steer me to a more detailed location or record group I would be most grateful. Thanks in advance, Ivo de Jong |

Re: US-British talks in 1941/1942
There are many references dotted around that refer to the preparations place, but I would start in AIR45: AIR45/1 may (no promises) include a summary of events.
Hope this helps, Bruce

Re: US-British talks in 1941/1942
Bruce, Andrew,
Thank you both for your replies! Looking at the timeframes covered, it seems that the CAB 88 and 98 files may be the most promising start of my research. I assume that the work of Eaker's staff may be in the CAB 98 file, while I had assumed to find them in some AIR file. Best regards Ivo de Jong |
