42 GIAP on the 14 Mar 1943
I was looking for another VVS loss and ran across one that led into this day for the 42 GIAP. It seems from reading www.allaces.ru for that date that 14 Yak-1 led by Gds. Kapt. Nikolay Kuz'mich Naumchik attacked the airfield at Temryuk - Kosachushka. It appears that the Bf 109s that they ran into at the airfield were from the 13.(Slow)/JG 52 which Uffz. Jozelf Stauder claimed a LaGG-3 at 05:07 and Lt. Jan Gerthofer a LaGG-3 at 05:10. As JFV 12/III hasn't come out yet I don't know if the 13./JG 52 lost in any Bf 109. The 42 GIAP claimed 5 Fw 189 and 2 Ju 52 destroyed on the ground. I don't know what units they were from or if they were actually lost. The 42 GIAP claimed to have shot down 5 "Me-109".
Lt. Akhmet-Khan Talovich Kankoshev his 1st personal a Me-109 Temryukskiy Bay Gds. Kapt Nikolay Kuz'mich Naumchik his 9th Me-109 Akhtanizovskiy estuary Lt. Ivan Mikhaylovich Gorbunov his 2nd Me-109 NE of Gorlachev Serz. Vladimir Anatol'evich Tsvetaev his 2nd Me-109 Verkhesneblievskaya Don't know who the 5th score was in the 42 GIAP. The II/JG 52 was involved but had no losses but one claim. 4./JG 52 Fw Hans Gleissner LaGG-3 (27) 05:45 34Ost/86 641. If you check its in the same location that Gorbunov claimed his 2nd and he had to land his burning Yak. The 42 GIAP had one loss that I found the Yak-1 Ml. Lt. Dmitriy Ermolaevich Gubenko (MIA). |

Re: 42 GIAP on the 14 Mar 1943
So Naumchik's victory seems to have been confirmed out of the 5 claiming victories unless Prien's next volume has someone else. So it leaves the 13.(Slow)/JG 52 with one possible unless AAA got him at the airfield or someone evaded not mentioned. It never states if Gorbunov's aircraft was recovered. The article used was Soviet era information and the current Russian writers would have done a better job of research.

Re: 42 GIAP on the 14 Mar 1943
In fact 6 victories were officialy confirmed to 42 GIAP. The last one by Mladshiy Leytenant Chistov. The later and Isajev's were listed as "going down, burning". Kankoshev's could be found only in "HSU award list".
