Information concerning the loss of Uffz. Hans Miedl - lost over Crete - 20.05.1941
Hi,
Can anyone provide information on the loss of Uffz. Hans Miedl who was a crew member of a bomber lost over Crete on the 20th May 1941? Many thanks rick

Rick, GQM dated 27-5-41 shows on 20-5-41 He111 3843 1H+EP II/KG26 in crashlanding Fl Pl Herkleion Kreta 100%. Crew FF Oblt Kurt v Stetten m-+, B Oblt. Werner Schmidt m-+, Bf Uffz. Heinz Kube m-w ( I think this man was on K later in the war ?), Bm Uffz Johann Mindel m, Bs Ogef Franz Budelist m. Amendment dated 11-2-1943 then has Uffz Miedl and Gef. Budelist status changed to killed so I guess Mindel/Miedl is your man,
Regards Brian Bines KG26 history has that Bf Uffz. Heinz Kube was taken Pow wounded in above incident and later freed. On 15-5-1942 he was reported missing with his crew from a mission over the Black Sea in a Ju88 of 6/KG26 with crew of St.Kap. B Oblt Horst Krupka, Ff Fw Wilhelm Gabler and Bm Ogef. Thanks Brian - makes very interesting reading especially around Kube. Do you know of any photos of this crash landing?
