French pilot in Luftwaffe

Bonjour from France,

Searching informations about French "Malgré-eux" (Mosellan and Alsacian) pilots in th Luftwaffe, I came across this page about Lucien Colomb

http://meyer.famille.free.fr/ahk/ind...uc_colomb.html

What is the truth in this, a French pilot with the RK

Merci à tous

Jean-Paul

Re: French pilot in Luftwaffe

You could find information in a book of Hans-Werner Neulen.

Re: French pilot in Luftwaffe

Hello,

At first glance... Strange story:

He says he started to fly on a Messerschmitt 17 (only 6 to 8 built in 1925!!!!) and Bf 108 ... Which school?
Then incorporated on front line in 1943 .. He talks about Bf 109 F !!!!
One Glider Flugbuch but none with other machines, no photos ???

Last, strange to find him through a "Malgré nous" research when, obviously, he wasn't.

OUR French Luftwaffe Pilot mythoman????

Doesn't mean there was no French pilots; starting with Darbois for example who continue to fly after the war and did participate to the "Indochine" conflict while in Légion Etrangère...

Scrolling through the Kracker List you can find names which are obviously french ones.

Regards, Franck.

I don't think Darbois fought in Indochina with the Légion.
As far as I can remember, he was a regular Armée de l'Air helicopter pilot.
But that's off topic.

Re: French pilot in Luftwaffe

Thanks for your answers,

Naturally I had search in the Kracker list. No Colomb, Colombé, Kolomb....

In my datas I have several French pilots in Luftwaffe:

Karl (Charles) KERN of NJG101 & NJG4, 1 kill (B-24).

Roland MEMHELD 8./SG3

René DARBOIS JG54, JG4

Robert Ernst KG55 (former Luftstreitkräfte pilot and ...)

Re: French pilot in Luftwaffe

There would also appear to be another problem: JG52 did not have a 'Black Panther' staffel. The illustration of JG52, from the JG52 website, is also incorrect in showing a Black Puma/Panther, this emblem belonged to the Hungarian 101 Fighter Sqd that fought side by side with JG52 units at the end of the war.
