Hi,
on 24. April 1944 at least one, maybe two Bf109 have been shot down in the area of lake Starnberg, south of munich, Close to my hometown. Time was around 14:00 to 14:30.
Does anybody have informations about losses for this day in this area?
Any help/Information is very welcome.

Hello Lino,

Have you checked this excellent article devoted to the Battle in the Munich area on 24 April 1944 (it contains also some information about Luftwaffe losses on this date)?:

I hope this might be interesting and useful to you.

Hi Ota,
thanks for the link:
"Capt. Fred Smith downed a Me 109 attacking the bombers near Wurm Lake"
Thats the one i'm interested in. Wurm Lake was the old Name for "Lake Starnberg", the area where i live. So i'm interested in the (at least to me unknown) Crash place and Details about the german Pilot.
All the best
Lino

Lino - Henry Brown 354FS/355FG shot down his first 109 of the day due south of Munich ~ 1350-1400, Norman Fortier 354FS/355FG a 109 south of Munich ~1350, and John Carter 364FS/357FG also shot down one in that general area near 1400.

Bill Marshall

Hi Bill and Ota,
thanks a lot for Information. It seems, the one i'm looking for is maybe
listed "near munich". I will especially look for the given Claims by Bill,
south of munich is quite a little bit better.

Thanks
Lino
