Smile Doodling...

Greetings ladies and gentlemen!

I have for some time now been enjoying Haldimann's "late war Bf 109 pictures", it contains photos of IV Gruppe JG 3 in Italy and I took a particular interest in a 11 staffel aircraft, in the photo badly blown up.

Given the manufacturer and other known factors, I decided to make an "unexploded" illustration of the aircraft, as it most likely looked in it's glory days. I'm no professional illustrator, but I like what I do.

Constructive criticism welcome!

Source as stated above.

All the Best!

Angantyr

Re: Doodling...

Like the others have said, good work and thank you for posting it for us to see.

If you want to add a Werk Nummer, the details (from the Allies' investigation of the wreck) are:
2 km. SW Pietravairano [Caserta]
Me 109 G-6 18733
Fuselage: 10 + red dot on white band followed by white
[word missing, probably refers to the IV. Gruppe "wave"]
Crashed, burnt and looted

DB 605 No. 01100200

The pilot, Ltn. Hans-Joachim Schroth, survived the crash but was killed over Holland in February 1944.

Re: Doodling...

Thanks for your precisions, Nick.

One last question: when did that crash happen?

Cheers

Re: Doodling...

Thanks Frans; I actually asked for the crash date of the plane in Italy (W.Nr. 18077).

Cheers

Thanks to your initiative, Agantyr, and thanks to your sources, Nick, we now have a clear background information for this wreck.

Thanks
Marc
