Fw Rauer, NJG 1

Hello,

I am searching the full name of a NJG 1 pilot, Fw Rauer, who claimed six victories, including two Mosquitoes, between February and May 1944 (first with 9./NJG 1, then with 3./NJG 1).

Luftwaffe victories microfilms by Tony Wood and the book about Nachjagd agree on the above, but none give the first name of this pilot. There is no pilot called Rauer either in the Nachjagd losses book by Mr Balss, as soon as I know.

On the other hand, I have found a reference on the Net to an Alfred Rauer who was flying He 219, as did the pilot above. It is there:

Marcel Hogenhuis said: "Well, he friendly tipped me that you have a copy of Heinz Weber’s Flugbuch: Weber was Bordfunker with Alfred Rauer and because the history of the Heinkel He219 is a spin off research project from my Fliegerhorst Venlo research, I would really appreciate if it would be possible for you to send me scans or paper copies."

I know that Mr Hogenhuis is a member of this board. If he, or somebody else, can confirm that Alfred Rauer was actually the successful NJG 1 pilot above, I will be very interested. What he did after May 1944 will also be interesting.

Thanks in advance

Hi Laurent,

.. the info did not come across OK,

Rauer had 6 nighttime claims and his last unit was 3./NJGr.10.

Re: Fw Rauer, NJG 1

Hello Laurent

Alfred Rauer is correct, I am in contact with his son. Rauer left the 3./NJG 1 in Venlo to join the 2./NJGr.10 in June 1944.

All the best, Marcel

Hi Marcel,

.. can you confirm then that Rauer's last unit was 2./NJGr.10 and not 3./NJGr.10? Or did he switch from one to another Staffel in NJGr.10?

Cheers, Theo
