Info needed on Kassel aircraft dump in 1945...
Hey guys,
I recently acquired some aircraft relics from a US vet belonging to the 429th Fighter Squadron (P-38s) of the 474th Fighter Bomber Group. He said he collected them from field on the outskirts of Kassel, Germany in the spring of 1945. Form what he recalls, there were a lot of (what he termed) "experimental" aircraft in various derelict condition...mentioned jets as well as Ju88's with piggyback mounted aircraft on them (obviously a Mistel). Can anyone narrow down this specific airfield/dump? If so, any current photos? TIA Mike
