Losses of several Ju 52 during a snow storm April 7th, 1941, Austria
I'm looking for information about some Ju 52 losses during really bad weather on April 7th, 1941 in the Bad Vöslau / Vienna - Austria region. All aircraft were on a mission to Romania. Cheers, Kurt

Inf.Div. tot und 9 Fluggäste verletzt. Ofw Lüer am 1941-05-23 seinen Verletzungen erlegen. 1941-04-07, 3./KG.z.b.V. 1, Ju 52/3m, 6245, 1Z+CL, Bei Mannersdorf am Leithagebirge, Unfreiwillige Bodenberührung. Bruch 100 %. Flugzeugführer Fw Merkle, Karl, + Beobachter Uffz Hellmich, Hermann, + Bordfunker Uffz Steinbach, Willi, + Bordmechaniker Fw Schnabel, Kurt, + 11 Fluggäste von J.R. 47/22. Inf.Div. tot. 1941-04-07, 3./KG.z.b.V. 1, Ju 52/3m, 6540, 1Z+LL, Leithagebirge, Absturz. Bruch 80 %. All on the 7.th Matti ??
11 planes from "Gruppe" Willerding landed at Arad at 15h00, so the ones who passed thru ! Rémi |

So 5 of 16 was lost en route. Not very good flight planning or maybe too optimistic meteorogists.

Fog and blowing snow was reported on that fateful Monday of 1941.
@Matti and Rèmi: May I ask from which source your took your information? I want to find out more about that "Gruppe Willerding" and their mission. Does anyone can confirm where they took off? Thanks - Kurtl |
