Details sought on 8-9 December 1942, 15 Squadron Stirling R9144 damaged in fighter attack

Dear all,

Who can supply any info on an incident during a Gardening op on the night of 8-9 December 1942, when 15 Squadron Stirling R9144 was damaged by a night fighter and belly-landed at Newmarket. I am especially interested in details about the location and time of the encounter with a German night fighter. (Squadron ORB & Group records regrettably do not supply any info on this).

Cheers and thanks, Theo

Not sure if you've checked this already, or indeed if it may or may not be relevant, but do you have the crew details for R9144 on that night?

The National Archives website has two combat reports for 15 Sqn on December 8th 1942, one by a F/O Cope, and the other by a Sgt. Lousada.

Regards

Simon
