533474 Flt Sgt Sidney Leslie Beamont 209 Sqn

The above was awarded the DFM on 7 Jul 42 with 209 Sqn but killed in action 7 days later with 119 Sqn. What was his role and can anyone say why he got the DFM?

This is the citation on page 14 of the following link:

http://www.skynet.ie/~dan/war/flight...t_AS1942-2.pdf

I think his name is "Sydney" Leslie Beaumont, -- 533474

DISTINGUISHED FLYING MEDAL.
Fit. Sgt. S L. BEAMONT, No. 209 Sqn.—This flight sergeant has served as an air gunner/flight mechanic since the outbreak of war. At all times he has set a very high standard of devotion to duty, and his ability is outstanding.
