Identification of German aircrew

Hi,

Bought this photo on Ebay ery recently with hope that the crew could be identified because of aircraft code on small banner.

Any ideas?

Rick

Re: Identification of German aircrew

Hi Guys,

The only 2 losses for aircraft code U5 + KA I found in Ulf Balke's KG 2 history books for Russia 1941 are attached, the second looked promising but the ranks do not entirely match! A very interesting photo though, and definately Stab Staffel KG 2.

Regards,

Melvin

Re: Identification of German aircrew

Regarding post #6 which mentions Wilhelm Schludecker. There is quite a bit on the web about Willi Schludecker. (somtimes also listed a Willie, or Willy) He was in KG2 and made an "apology" tour.

Several of the newstories include a wartime photo, such as here:
http://www.standard.co.uk/news/luftw...d-6843386.html

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/e...et/7318709.stm

http://www.bathheritagewatchdog.org/bathblitz/pilot.htm

Based on those newspaper photos, I don't think he is in the crew photo. I would think he would be the man seated and I just don't see those thick very dark eyebrows in the crew photo.
