Details death Fhjfw. Edwin Brockhaus and crew 6./NJG101, 14.9.1944

Dear all,

Who can supply me with additional details on the death of Fhjfw. Edwin Brockhaus and his crew of 6./NJG101 on 14 September 1944. His crew were Ogefr. Peter Rieck and Uffz. Michael Peinhaupt. They were reportedly shot down by a 'friendly' fighter and killed at Matrafurck. I cannot find a place called Matrafurck however (should be somewhere in the Matra mountain range NE of Budapest I think), and I cannot find the burial locations of these three airmen in the online database Volksbund Gräbersuche.

Grateful for any details, Theo

I have the location Mátrafüred.
Also from the NVM I have written into my database that the crew was only wounded, not killed. As the pilot I have Brochhaus, not Brockhaus, but cannot say. which one is correct.

Just to clarify, this is NOT the Stab.II/NJG.101 Do 217N-2, which collided with a 10 GvAP DD IL-4 (S/N: 14019) on September 17/18, 1944 and crashed in the Mátra forest at MátraBALLA-NE at 21:00, right? Mixed, small debris of IL-4 and Do 217 still cover the forest...

Thanks a lot Matti for clearing this one up! And Gabor -you're right, the 17/18.9.44 incident concerned a different loss, I have the following claim, Beck and crew were all KIA:

Oblt. Hans-Joachim Beck: 5 Stab II./NJG101 DB-3 ca. 130 km E. Budapest (FC) 22.26 10 GvAP DD Il-4 serial nr. 14019

Cheers, Theo

IL-4, S/N: 14019 was underlined white '69' on rudder.

Crew:

2 went down with the ship and the Do 217, one parachute failed to open, one survivor was killed in gunfight with searching troops in the forest near Sirok.

Yep, Matrafurck was probably Mátrafüred.

Other, correct location names for eg. Lipfert:

Soborgarol = Sárbogárd (Lipfert's 184.) ('d' in many cases was misspelled as 'ol')
Pakozol = Pákozd (Lipfert's 186.)
Stuhlweissenburg (in German) = city of Székesfehérvár (Lipfert's many, like: 165, 173, 174, etc.)
Felstgalla = Felsőgalla (Lipfert's 193.)
Neutra = Nyitra (Lipfert's 195, 196, 197.)
Diozeg = Diószeg (Lipfert's 198.)
...etc.
