Who claimed Von Werra on 5 Sep 40?

Hello all,

Who can help me with this matter? Various sources indicate F/Lt Webster of 41 Squadron as the claimer, but other sources state P/O Bennions of 41 Squadron damaged Von Werra's Me 109 and P/O Stapleton of 603 Squadron finished it off...

Thanks

Regards
Rob

Re: Who claimed Von Werra on 5 Sep 40?

hello Rob,

Not personally as I was not there.

I have to rely on books and articles in magazines and the internet such as this forum for the information I have.

You may like to take a peek at RAF Victory Claims by John Forman page 202 - quote "On 5th September, von Werra's Bf109, already hard hit by Pilot Officer George Bennions of 41 Squadron, was finally shot down by Stapleton at Marden".

And also "STAPME" by David Ross.

to name but two sources.

Alex
