Post Anthony Georg

This german ?airman died 30 August 1940 and is buried in a CWG grave in Hitchin Cemetary, Hertfordshire, UK.
Who was he and how does he get to be there?
Next to him is buried Gefr. Wolfgang Euerl, the observer on He 111 1H+ET of 3/KG26. The a/c was shot down at 22:11h on 8 April 1941 by Squ. Ldr A T D Sanders DFC.
I guess that Anthony Georg was an airman. Stuck for further info. Any ideas?

Re: Anthony Georg

Many thanks. The graves are very anonymous, and I am preparing some plaques to place by them so that interested visitors will learn something of these men who died for their country.
I have adopted three graves thro' the BoBHS, and have prepared information plaques for them. One grave, that of Sgt. R D Baker in Letchworth cemetary has no connection with the RAF or BoB at all, a great shame, so I intend to 'do' something about that, but it opens up a new world researching these men, and already I have come across conflicting research: in Battle Over Britain, Anthony was apparently shot down SW of Croyden. Important to be as accurate as possible!

Re: Anthony Georg

Dear BEVWEB, I have extensively (25 years) researched both the Me110 crash in which Georg Anthony was killed as well as the Heinkel He 111 crash in which Wolfgang Euerl was killed. Im in possession of part of the cowling and yellow spinner from Euerls Heinkel and have a manufacturers plate from the Me 110. Both researches are featured in my book War Torn Skies Hertfordshire published by Redkite books and both accounts have wartime photos of both crash sites....both crash sites have been excavated...Kind regards Julian Evan-Hart

Re: Anthony Georg

Hi,

Is it possible for you to show a photo of the Bf110 maker's plate?

Thank you,
Steve
