Group Captain Harold Walmsley DFC and bar, CdG:. Born 14 December 1922, Preston. Joined RAF December 1940. Sent to Rhodesia - flying training. 61 OTU t. Posted, as Sergeant Pilot, to 611 Squadron September 1942 Pilot Officer 4 January 1943. Flying Officer 4 July 1943. F/Lt iAugust 1943, 132 Squadron. DFC April 1944. Rested the same month, attending the CGS course at Catfoss. May instructor at 57 OTU. October 1944, 130 (Punjab) Squadron at B.64 Schaffen/Diest. Spring 1945 he was acting Commanding Officer. Command 350 of (Belgian) Squadron on 23 April. Bar to his DFC for nine victories in one month. Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palm .
