Beside the two shots of the seller's desk I also found the photo of the Hawker Henley quite interesting.

I think the seller is wrong when he says it is L3269 (which was w/o already on 25 Jan 1940)

It is far more likely to be L3289 since we can clearly see the target tug coloured stripes of yellow and black!

-Hurricane V7203 lost on 12/01/41 with 242 sqdn and P/O JB Latta KIA

-Botha I L6302 with n°3 School of general Reconnaissance (3 SGR)

-Spitfire I X4341 with in background a ZD-A ; X4341 was with n°222 then 53 OTU (source Air Britain)

In the photo of the fuel bowswer, does anyone know what the white circle marking was for. In minature it looked to be a roundal but enlarged it has something written on it?

Larry it's the DTD no. (Directorate of Technical Development) and fuel.....

The Whitley is a Mk.V P4938, 77 Sqn. as KN--C and 19 OTU as UO--CA.

Thanks for the DTD number. I have not seen this before . More typical is just a white circle with 100 inside it - Presumably 100 octaine, so is that just 77 Octaine in the photo, and not much good for an aero engine?

DTD224 was cancelled as "Obsolete"; up to mid-1940 80/87 was the standard (then 100/130) so "77" may have been a pre-war substitute.
There were higher grades like 150 in some Eighth AF P-51s and 160 tried in a Spit VIII for "Basta" trials.
This is a 1944 DTD listing, Australian printing but UK M.A.P. material specs. I'm only really interested in those relating to "aircraft finishes".
