Bf109 2/JG54 shot down 3 July 1940
Hi guys
I have just been advised by Rob that a Bf109E of 2/JG54 was shot down by return fire from a Hudson of 206 Squadron; the pilot baled out and his aircraft crashed in Assendelft. Has anyone the identity of the pilot and any additional details? Cheers Brian

Hello Brian,
just a minor detail -- two Me 109E's of 2./JG 54 took off from Amsterdam Schiphol to intercept the Hudson of 206 Sqdn - one was shot down - these Me 109E's were a detachment of the I./JG 54 which was stationed at Eindhoven airfield. Regards Rob

Hi Brian,
I've not much more on the identity of the Bf.109 or ist pilot but can supply the combat report of the Hudson crew and a page of the Kriegstagebuch Fliegerhorst Schiphol dealing with this event. Regards, Hans Nauta
