Ju88 encounter off English Coast May 11th 1941

Hi,

A 311 (Czech) Wellington had two encounters with what was reported as a JU88 a 23:15hrs and 23:18hrs 50 miles off the English coast at Orford Ness. Can anyone please tell me what German units were active in this area at this time and did any report an encounter with a Wellington ?

TIA

Steve

Steve: This is a Luftwaffe question and should really be on the Luftwaffe Board. The Luftwaffe would not have claimed aircraft as damaged but that said Oblt Heinz Harmstorf of 1./NJG 2 claimed a Wellington 150 miles NE of Cromer at 2319hrs; a 103 Sqn Wellington which was slightly damaged in similar circumstances landed at 0520hrs
