Werner Bohnenkamp

Hi all

It has been suggested that Werner Bohnenkamp of JG 26 (1940-41) and JG 300 (1944-45) is the same as Werner Bonnenkamp of JG 52 (1943-1944) – just a misspelling of the name.

If this is correct then Werner Bonnenkamp (JG52) would have an EKM# in line with one of the JG26 Staffel that were used in 1940.

Since Werner Bonnenkamp (JG 52) was WIA on 31.10.43 & 13.05.44 – Does anyone have the NVM of these incidents (that should contain the EKM#) to check what the EKM is to determine if there is a link or not.

Regards,

Craig…

Re: Werner Bohnenkamp

Hi Craig

I have no reference with Bohnenkamp wit JG 26, but making three claims with Stab./JG 300 23th August 1944 until 28th September 1944 as a Feldwebel. Walter Dahl's Leistungbuch has him as a witness many times during 1945, the last being on 30th April 1945 as an Oberfeldwebel, and Dahl spells his name 100% Bohnenkamp, but guess this doesn't help too much.

I do have a claim for Bonnenkamp as an Uffz making a claim on 1st February 1944 with 3./JG 52, the rank progression wouldn't be a problem. However I do have a Date of Birth of 26th March 1922 which would make him a little young to be in JG 26 in 1940 possibly? I do have the names and Dates of Births of one Gruppe of JG 52, I'll try to find it as I suspect it's I./JG 52.

Kind Regards

Johannes

Re: Werner Bohnenkamp

Have just checked Nick Beale's name search, and the surname Bonnenkamp no longer exists in Germany!

Kind Regards

Re: Werner Bohnenkamp

I do not believe this is the same guy. I have for Uffz. Werner BONNEKAMP (note the one N less!!) of 3./JG 52 as born 26/3/1922 and still Uffz. on 13/5/44 and having EM 68416/302 which is a number of 2./JGr Süd of 2nd halve 1942.

Re: Werner Bohnenkamp

Thanks John,

That’s exactly what I was after. Age and EKM confirm not the same person.

If they were the same his EKM would have likely been for 9./JG26 (EKM 60321/##).

Regards.

Re: Werner Bohnenkamp

Hi Craig

Have just viewed the mikrofilm for his claim, I would agree with John with the spelling of the name, certainly the third letter is a "N" not "H", and seems to be lacking the third "N". So not the same guy.

Kind regards

Johannes
