Re: Bf109 WNr, 6322 photo, East Prussia, 1945
Very strange to see part of the werknummer on the fuselage. Few people know what RKKA means. I suggest a more detailed reference for future use. It would also require more details about which Soviet ground units were in the area and more details about where this photo was taken. Some have no idea where East Prussia was. The history of East Prussia is complicated.

Thank you Alexander. I hope the following is helpful.
https://www.deutsche-digitale-biblio...VO73CRWL5M3GJH https://lwag.org/forums/showthread_t_2576/ From another site: "The Industriewerke Heiligenbeil GmbH were a subsidiary of the Schichau-Werke Elbing (mainly known for their shipyrads, but also busy in the field of locomotives, and other "heavy metal"), and worked as a repair shop for aircraft and aviation engines." |

Re: Bf109 WNr, 6322 photo, East Prussia, 1945
Sorry Edwest2.....any serious researcher of the 109 should know the meaning of the (last) 4-digits of the werknummer on the aft fuselage. Knowing what East Prussia means should even be more familiar....if not you can always try Wikipedia. I do not believe we should elaborate here in our posts....

Re: Bf109 WNr, 6322 photo, East Prussia, 1945
The aircraft in the photo is a Bf 109 G-14/AS. For the complete W.Nr., there are two possibilities:
- 166 322, in which case the aircraft was built at Messerschmitt Regensburg as part of a block of c. 40 aircraft between August 1944 and December 1944; - 786 322, in which case it comes from a block of 22 aircraft constructed by Messerschmitt Regensburg between October 1944 and March 1945. Considering the late type of lower cowling (unified with the G-10 and K-4) and the positioning of the last four digits of the W.Nr. on the fuselage, I feel this is probably a rather late production G-14/AS, and as such I think 786 322 is indeed the most likely option, as gogh already suggested. Further of note is the long tail wheel, which was not standard on the G-14, but was a standard fit on Regensburg-built G-10 aircraft - additionally indicating it is a late production G-14/AS. |

Re: Bf109 WNr, 6322 photo, East Prussia, 1945
Many thanks to all for detailed information about the plant and the Bf109, I apprecitate your help with my requests!
There is another photo from the same place, but taken outdoor. Note numbers painted on Fw190 fuselages and Fu code. Any thoughts on what these numbers are and for what Fu code stands? Sorry for such large size photo, but it gives the best appearance for all details. Best regards, Alexander ![]() |
