Re: ID for Bf109 K4 (330 39?)

According to Tomas Poruba and Kees Mol's Messerschmitt Bf 109 K Camouflage and Marking (JaPo, 2000) W.Nr.330 390 missing in action on 14 January 1945. It was Lt. Pape's white 21 from III./JG 26.

This is the only 330 39_ machine lost in combat listed in their appendix.

Please sent to me more info. about appendix on e-mail: Huball25@poczta.fm
(page nr. ?)

Update:
I thinki this is: 330 380 / not 390 (info. on base doc. from BA) so I think mistake in appendix ??

A/c for sure is W.Nr.330 39x or mistake at Luftwaffe document from BA (not correctly written in 1945).

Did pilot Lt. DIETWIN Pape survived the end of the war despite being shot down twice and having to parachute ?

14 A4 pages of tables in small print, title "List of confirmed data on individual Bf 109 Ks".

Since this is a 25-year-old book, I expect that more will be known now than when it was published.

For what it is worth, Don Caldwell in his JG 26 books stated
Lt Dietwin Pape 9./JG 26 Bf 109 K-4 WNr 330390 white 21 shot down 12.01H south of Köln by P-51 from 78FG. ff OK
Lt Walter Kopp 10/JG 26 Bf 109 K-4 WNr 330380 black 28 shot down 12.00H west of Koblenz by Tempest from 486Sq ff KIA

Thanks for the date Nick!

Re: ID for Bf109 K4 (330 39?)

If they were both in the first group (as stated in the BA for Kopp document), why is there + I on the wreck's hull (Number of course: 330 39?) ?=6/8/0 and where it means: I = III Group.
Is it possible that the wreckage after being shot down was found and sent back to the airport from which the pilot took off?

You can discover from the situation maps here if the area where he crashed was still in German-held territory at the time.
