When was he decorated with the iron Cross 2nd Class (decoration awarded after a first victory:This seems to be between May 10/17,1940 (6/ZG26)

I am trying to identify the date of his first "Abschus" (in WW2)

Hi Michel

This is hard to say, the earlier typed-out staffeln mikrofilms for II./ZG 26 seemed not to have survived the war, in fact the only claim on the mikrofilms for Rossiwall is a B-17 on 04.10.1943. The earliest I have are two Spitfires on 31.05.1940(nr.2-3 overall)with 5./ZG 26, but cannot be absolutely sure this is correct. Hopefully somebody has some KBT papers that cover this period.

His first "Abschus" is undeniably between 10/05 and 17/05 (6/ZG26),hence the interest in knowing the date of his décoration.

He was decorated on 30/06 with iron Cross 1St Class (5/ZG26),usually awarded for 3/5 "Abschusse".

By counting the 2 from 31/05,the missing one with 6/ZG26,we are good,knowling that there are only 2 "Abschusse" between 31/05 and 30/06 for 5/ZG26:

14/06/40=1....by Rossiwall?
