F/O MACLACHLAN RAF 139 Sqn
Hello!
Is it possible to find out more about a former RAF pilot? Near my hometown crashed on Oct-1-1939 the Bristol Blenheim N6231 (RAF 139 Sqn). The aircraft was attacked by german fighters, heavily damaged and crashed near Glissen, about 15 km north of the town Minden. Two crewman are KIA, they were later buried at the Commonwealth Hanover War Cemetary. The Pilot F/O (37952) Alan Colin MACLACHLAN bailed out with minor injuries and become one of the earliest british POW. I`m interested to find out what happened to him, in which camps was he arrested, did he survive the war? https://asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/225763 Thanks in advance! |

Re: F/O MACLACHLAN RAF 139 Sqn
Was POW No 40 in Stalag Luft 3 Sagan and Berlaria. By March 1945 he had been promoted to Flt Lt. Not a member of any ex-POW Association 1989 or 1993. Promoted to Fg Off Nov 40 and Flt Lt Jan 44. Appears he did not stay in the RAF after the war
