US Airmen where buried ?
Hi,
I have been searching for the Burial place for the following 3 airmen. Date of death was 21st April, 1942. Pvt. William V, Bedford - 39303940. Klamath County, Oregon. Pvt. Nick Hinich - 36022487. Cook County, Illinois. Cpl. Ray E, Love - 13032649. Henrico County, Virginia. They were passengers of an aircraft that crashed in Australia. Ten were killed, I have details of Burial place of the other seven, just cannot get anything for these three. Thanks Alex Last edited by Alex Smart; 23rd September 2025 at 04:59. |

Re: US Airmen where buried ?
Many thanks Dave, I found the others on Findagrave but the three I highlighted were not there for me , but you somehow have found one that was there , no idea why I couldn't get him ?
Thanks again, Sadly cannot find Bedford or Love anywhere . Alex Last edited by Alex Smart; 25th September 2025 at 02:43. |

The crash:
https://www.baaa-acro.com/crash/cras...reek-12-killed The bodies of Bedford and Love (and probably others in the crash) were returned to the US in February 1948. Re: US Airmen where buried ?
My grateful thanks Rolland,
Have no idea as to why it was so difficult to find them in the usual NA sites. However I am unable to see the newspaper cuttings, any chance you could copy/paste and send to me by my email ? All the best Alex |

Re: US Airmen where buried ?
its a list of 47 Virginians brought home for burial, and their next of kin. so its
Ray E Love, NoK Mrs FrancEs B Peppin, 12 South Boulevard, Richmond, VA This might be him but a strangely bare grave marker https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/...02/ray-e.-love

Re: US Airmen where buried ?
Many thanks Dennis, Yes that looks to be the correct Airman the newspaper cutting kindly provided by Rolland has the name and also that of "next of kin"(?) Safe as your fidagrave details.
Again I cannot understand how I could not get that from findagrave ? Anyway only one left Airman Bedford. What I have: Pvt. William V "Bill" ,BEDFORD - 39303940 - 49th FG. Born - 1918. Enlisted at Fort Lewis, Washington, on 11th October, 941 Single. After this he must have gotten married to a Stella L , Bedford as she is noted as his NoK. who resided at 260 N, Laguna Street, Klamath Falls, Klamath County, Oregon. May have been his mother ? His remains were returned to the USA to Stella (seenewspaper cutting). So would have been buried locally I would have thought. However although there are a few Stella List buried at Klamath Falls, none have the name Bedford, nor are there any William V "Bill" Bedford 's that I could find via findagrave ![]() Help most welcome, Many thanks Alex Last edited by Alex Smart; 27th September 2025 at 04:22. |

Re: US Airmen where buried ?
Alex, it appears that William B. Bedford is buried at Golden Gate National Cemetery. Just enter his ASN number in keywords and use Record Group 92 of the NARA website. Am too far away now distance wise to send details. Leendert
