Flt Sgt Jim Flowers, Lancaster rear gunner, 50 & 44 Sq
from twitter:
Veterans’ Foundation @VeteransFdn · We are saddened to hear of the passing of Flight Sergeant (RAF) Jim Flowers, aged 101. 🕯️ A rear gunner with 50 and 44 Squadrons (1944–47), Jim flew Lancaster bombers from RAF Skellingthorpe and later with Tiger Force, facing flak, night fighters, and the constant peril of the tail turret. “Although I knew that being a rear gunner was a very dangerous job… this was the way I wished to serve my country.” 🌺 Rest in peace, Sir.
