Fw Drunk - 1./JG 52

Hi,

According to Niko Fast in Das Jagdgeschwader 52 I.Band he was a member of the first staffel and coud have scored 4 victories. Looking in T.WOOD's victory list east/west I can not find this pilot. There is no christian name given, so its possible that the name is not correct. Does anyone have more information about this Fw?
Tia,

Dirk

Re: Fw Drunk - 1./JG 52

Hi Dirk,

I checked "Die Geschichte der I. Gruppe des Jagdgeschwaders 52" by Bernd Barbas, and found the following entries for Fw Drunk in the Claims list:
  1. 23.05.42 | 05.00 Uhr | I-16 (claim #1)
  2. 25.05.42 | 08.20 Uhr | Il-2 (claim #2)
  3. 29.05.42 | 06.17 Uhr | Su-2 (claim #3)
  4. 04.06.42 | 04.25 Uhr | Mig-1 (claim #4)
He doesn't have any further entries in the Claims list and he doesn't appear in the Loss list, so it seems likely that he was transferred, as stated in Niko Fast's "Das Jagdgeschwader 52, I. Band". Unfortunately, Barbas doesn't mention him in the narrative describing the action on the above dates, so all we have is his last name, rank and Staffel (i.e. 1./JG 52).

Maybe someone else can fill in the blanks...

Regards,
Leon Venter

Re: Fw Drunk - 1./JG 52

Hello Dirk,

Fw Heinz-Albrecht Drunk was transferred to the 9./JG 27.
On 28 Nov 1942 he was missing south of Kastelli/Crete. He flew the Bf 109 F-4 WNr. 7219 yellow 6.

Re: Fw Drunk - 1./JG 52

Hello Leo,

Thank you very much for this information. I do have Bernd Barbas books about the II. & III./JG 52, but not about the I./JG 52, yet...
I should have checked Prien's other Jagdgeschwader books but sadly they contain no index of names.

Regards,

Dirk
