June 1/2nd 1000 bomber Raid Essen
Hi
On the second 1000 bomber raid, June 1/2nd No.419 C/O W/Cdr Fulton was joined by a G/C Gray a SASO to Essen.* *Any idea who this was, please? TIA Steve

Was 419 Sqn with 3 or 4 Gp then? He would guess he would be SASO from one of these Groups, the Gp ORB being a help

Quick Google come up with this:
The Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) of No. 3 Group RAF Bomber Command for the entirety of 1942 was Group Captain (later Air Commodore) John Astley Gray. He took up the appointment on 1 November 1941 and held the post until 1 March 1943, when he was transferred to become the Deputy SASO at Headquarters Bomber Command
