PRU Spitfire I identity?
Any ideas from the congnoscenti on the identity of the PRU Spitfire I shown in this link from E-Bay? Its on the 4-10 E-bay photo listings from Ed West.
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=220103926122 As you can see from the pictures, the Spitfire I is intact and looks flightworthy. The "LY" code is very visible, with Luftwaffe personnel standing in front. Carlos |

Re: PRU Spitfire I identity?
This is Spitfire X4385, coded LY-B. On September 22nd 1941 this aircraft landed at Deelen airfield (the Netherlands) after the engine had stopped during the flight. Pilot Peter Tomlison, POW.

Re: PRU Spitfire I identity?
I just noted that I had misspelled the name of the pilot. The correct name is Peter Tomlinson.
Kind regards, Hendrik |
