S/Ldr Arthur Waite Oldroyd AFC DFC

Gents,

Looking for details please on the above officer's career between 1939 and 1942 prior to his arrival on 218 Squadron as flight commander.

Looking for details on his AFC, the association records state that he was ex training command, can this be confirmed. ?

Thanks in advance and a Happy New Year to you all.

Regards

Steve

Hello Steve,

But then,
11th May 1939, Flying Officer to Flight Lt. (?)
Then
Dec 1941, A.W. Oldroyd AFC, From Flt Lt to Sqdn Ldr.
But Ju 43,To Sqdn Ldr (temp) DFC,AFC, 1st April 42.
22nd May 1942, 218 sqdn DFC award write up for Oldroyd and navigator Brown.
14th Jan 44,Gaz, Wng Cdr (acting) MID.
July 47,Gaz, Sqdn Ldr to Wng Cdr .
Could see nil on his AFC, except notice of award to Acting Flight Lt,from January 1941.
All for now

Morning Alex,

Thank you for the above, I too could not find anything on his AFC, a few off those left from the squadron who remember him say that he was ex Training Command and was awarded the AFC for his time instructing. ?

Thanks again, and Happy New Year.

Steve
