From London Gazzette Archive on line. Sept 40, Commissioned as P/O on probation from 3rd Sept 40. But then, 11th May 1939, Flying Officer to Flight Lt. (?) Then Dec 1941, A.W. Oldroyd AFC, From Flt Lt to Sqdn Ldr. But Ju 43,To Sqdn Ldr (temp) DFC,AFC, 1st April 42. 22nd May 1942, 218 sqdn DFC award write up for Oldroyd and navigator Brown. 14th Jan 44,Gaz, Wng Cdr (acting) MID. July 47,Gaz, Sqdn Ldr to Wng Cdr . Could see nil on his AFC, except notice of award to Acting Flight Lt,from January 1941. All for now Alex, PS did not look at Edinburgh or Belfast Gaz's.
