KGr 100

I have seen several references to this unit during the Norwegian campaign, but have found no information as to its origin, mission, etc. Can anyone give me a pointer for material on the April-May 1940 period for this unit? Thanks in advance,

ArtieBob

Re: KGr 100

Kenneth Wakefield did a book on this unit which covered the Norwegian campaign.

K Wakefield 'First pathfinders: KG 100' (Kimber 1981)

He also did a book called Pfadfinder: Luftwaffe Pathfinder Operations over Britain, which extended his earlier work.

Re: KGr 100

Hi Art,

I did a quick check of British National Archives file HW 5/1, and there is at least one reference to the unit, from 17 April 1940. It mentioned an aircraft marked '6N + GK' landing at Oslo at 11:30 on that day, after flying from the unit's base at Lüneberg.

I'd assume that there would be more references to the Gruppe in ULTRA.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Dj. 204p. Profusely illustrated. Copious source notes. Color art work. Glossary/Abbreviations. Index.

The deZeng/Stankey work actually has quite good coverage of Kampfgruppe 100's formation on 26 August 1938 through the Norwegian Campaign.
