Re: Heinz Bar's Me262 Victories

Sorry but the 12 were really 13.
Entry for 19.4 : Mustang 3 Absch
then only in the " observations " column , the undeciphered note including 4 Abschüsse and 29.4.45 followed below by " last shot down Thunderbolt on 28.4.45 over Bad Aibling "

March 19,1945- 1 P-51 Mustang
March 21,1945 - 1 B-24 Liberator
March 24,1945 - 1 B-24 Liberator and 1 P-51 Mustang
April 4,1945 - 1 B-26 Marauder
April 9,1945- 2 B-26 Marauders
April 17 - 1 B-26 Marauders
April 18,1945 - 2 P-47 Thunderbolts
April 19,1945 - 2 P-51 Mustangs

These are the ones I can document with corresponding Allied losses:

April 4, 1945 - 323rd BG B-26 s/n 42-107593 -shot down by Me262
April 9, 1945 - 43-34334 (556th BS) shot down by Me 262 9/4/45. MACR 14379

Any ideas on the rest?
"April 4,1945 - 1 B-26 Marauder" -- About this data ,can you give the source? In every Me-262 book I got (Osprey publishing/Classic Publishing...etc),Bar shot down a mustang that day.

And ,if you and Andrew Arthy have the same source, his data(04.04.45, 14:55-15:30: one victory) won't match Marauders loss of that day.

According to MACR report, Marauder 42-107593 was lost at 11:25

Hi,

Re-checking my (rather poor) copy of his Flugbuch, the 4 April 1945 victory should be a Mustang, not a Marauder.

Cheers,

Re: Heinz Bar's Me262 Victories

I assume everyone has given up on that whole "and one of the victories was scored with a Me 262C" thing?

(ducking now and running......)

So, how many of Baer's jet claims are possible be confirmed from the Allied archives? Only two, as Kaki352 mentioned?

Could you check out the 18.04.45 victories ?I wonder if they were B-26s.Because 387BG got one A/C lossed and one damaged that day,all by Me-262 ,but no luftwaffe pilot claim any B-26 victory

Hi,

For 18 April 1945, I read: "Luftk. m. Thunderbolt, 2 Absch.", time of mission 10:48-11:18.
