Interesting picture but no caption other than Bf109 Essex - late 40 - presumably Sept/Oct ........

Picture appears on page 651 in Luftwaffe Crash Archive Volume 6 28th October 1940 to 31st December 1940 by Nigel Parker

The identification is as follows:
29th October 1940 Bf109E-4 Wn.5794 1+l 8/JG26
Marsh House Farm, Tillingham Essex 17:00hrs
Attacked from both sides by Hurricanes and the pilot baled out; the aircraft diving into soft ground, buried and burnt out. A few .303 strikes found on pieces of wreckage.
Armament: traces of one 20mm cannon found
ID:60316, AW:white, Dortmund, 15/1/40 FP:39874 Brussels
Ff: Fw Konrad Jäckel

Battle of Britain Then and Now Volume V records loss on page 702, crediting victory to Pilot Officer Kumiega and Sergeant Hogg of 17 Squadron
