Thunderbolts versus 109s 6-14-44

Recently I saw a litho depicting a combat between P-47s of the 9th AF's 368th FG and Bf-109s on June 14 '44, apparently near Lisieux in northern France. A flight of Jugs was attacked by an estimated 30 Messerschmitts, one of which flew alongside a damaged T-Bolt. The chivalrous Luftwaffe pilot broke off rather than shoot down Lt. George Sutcliffe. Does anyone have an idea of the 109 unit or perhaps even some of the pilots involved?

Thanks to all.
