I know that BMW took over Bramo (Brandenburgische Motorenwerke) - but the Bramo 323 (of the Do 17M) was stil not the same engine as the BMW 132 (of the Do 17P). The version of the BMW 132 used on the Do 17P had two small round air intakes inside the cowl (on both sides of the top cylinder). So it's not really difficult to tell a Do 17M from a Do 17P in a frontal view.
