Re: Ottomar Kruse

Ottomar and I corresponded occasionally over the past few years and he graciously shared his Luftwaffe experiences with me. He and my father were involved in the same dogfight between II./JG26 and the 474th FG on 25 Aug 44. Ottomar got credit for shooting down Capt. James Austin on that mission. Ottomar and my father even got a chance to correspond with one another and shared their experiences of that day. I will miss Ottomar dearly. He was a true gentleman. My condolences go out to his wife, Elsbeth, and his family.
Gary Koch (474th FG Association Chief Historian)
