Gulf of Kotor, 29/3/44

Hi all,

I believe 126 Sqn attacked a seaplane hangar on the Gulf of Kotor (Adriatic coast, Montenegro), 29/3/44. What I would like to know is:

What claims resulted from this attack, aircraft &/or installations?

The leader; and whether it was a sqn strength attack?

Cheers, Bruce

ULTRA gives only 'Torpedo workshop and one hangar destroyed in attack on seaplane base Kotor' {VL9795}.

Good to know, I was there and search in local archive and nothing specific to find. But some of the divers state that they find some sunken wrecks of airplanes in the wide area but could not confirmed position...

Cheers

Thanks to you both for your replies & information. It would be interesting to know what types of aircraft were based at that hangar but obviously torpedo-carrying types.

Cheers, Bruce

No 126 flew 10 armed sorties that day, the first mission was 4 aircraft to Boka Kotorska Zaljev (Kotor Bay), other two (4 + 2) to Albania where they attacked some scattered aircraft at Shijak airfield. All Spits were bombed up with 250lb bombs.
