The plane in the background to Schirmbock's machine (photos may be available on Falcon's site - don't remember):
Bf 109E-4/B, 3605, Schmetzer, Ofw. Reinhold, 33+, III., 8., JG 77, schwarzes, 5 +, , , 20-Jul-41, Notlandung due to taking hits to the engine. Collided with Kubelwagen., 'rote 5'?, Lfl.4/Eins.Osten, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. Hello Thenelm,
Both planes pictures are in David site, Schirmbock's machine with Reinhold "Rote 5" in the background, and Reinhold's one on a separate picture done the same day the said collision occured. Morality? Don't juge damages just looking a picture, the right wing is missing!.. + the damages on engine since it was full throttle at take-off... = 80%. Regards, Franck.
