Hmm, I did name searches in most of my main tables with no matches. Any idea what type of unit he may have been with?

Jim, you had it -- just not a combat loss.

Bf 109G-12 WNr.19333, BK+YK of JG 112
Ofw. Paul Meier (F)/ Gefr. Franz Federbusch (Sch)
Both injured 29.Aug. 1944 in crash due to technical failure, near Landau. 100% loss.
