Re: Lost Do-24 last days of WWII News Story
Gents,
thanks for the additional and valuable details. In the thread at the LBB refering this incident a member states "Do 24 T-3, Werknummer 1151". So far it seems confirmable what brian posted to identify the a/c (thanks a lot, well done!). Another LBB member remarks that the Do 24 was hit by a russian tank-shell and posted a picture of a wreckage-piece that was salvaged from lake's bottom at the crash-site. He is sure about that because informations of a bomb desposal team are telling that a splinter stuck in that piece definetely is fragment of a Russian type tank-shell. All in all at this point - strange enough - it looks as if the Do 24 was shot down by a Soviet tank. Best Regards Norbert
