Re: Soviet P-39 Airacobra- six wing guns?
It's not a kit, it's a pre-assembled plastic model. Pretty cheap deal, like $15 I think. I am thinking that whatever molds they used were set up to make either version, but they ended up inaccurately sticking both the gondolas and the .30cals on. The other thing is that it doesn't appear to have any cowling guns. Wasn't there a version of the P-39 that did away with the cowling guns and just had the 37mm and the wing guns? In any case, I too only see references to the Soviets removing the wing guns, which I doubt they'd do if they were using a version that didn't have cowling guns. They'd be left with just the 37mm then.
So I guess what I have to figure out is whether to remove just the .50's, or just the .30's, or remove both and just ignore the fact that there are no obvious cowling guns. It's basically for decoration anyway, but it'd be nice to have it half-way accurate at least. |
