Exclamation Fw Gross Walter 3./NJG1

Hello ,

Fw Gross Walter from 3./NJG 1 went missing after he bailed out of BF-110 Wnr 2684 on april 13 1942.
Is this info correct ?

Yes and no, he was found soon after and buried in his hometown.

WNr. is correct. Machine was coded 'G9+FL' and pilot was Ofw. Gerhard Herzog. Gros apparently jumped or fell out aircraft without a parachute! (Per Höhler)

Aircraft later lost with 5./NJG 5 as 'C9+FN'.

Hello Jim,

I agree and here you see another nice example how personel and nightfighters of the 3./NJG 1 were used to form the new 5./NJG 5 ! Even weapon mechanic Paul Mahle - sometimes called the inventor of Schräge Muzik - moved with his 3./NJG 1 to Schönerts II./NJG 5 and the rest is history...
