Just past 3:25 there is a Mosquito with code WR-X.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPv0r...XTAFEYqUR8dh6s

WR is the code for #248 but the code was changed to DM before #248 received its Mosquitoes. WR then became the code for the Station Flight, RAF Moreton in Marsh.

The a/c serial number looks like it is LR35? or LR36?.

In my Mosquito serial number list I can find several for #248 but none for Moreton in Marsh for the above serial numbers.

Can anyone help with IDing the unit this Mosquito was assigned to? Thanks.

Re: ID required

Looks like LR363 to me.

This link seems to indicate WR-(X),
http://books.google.com/books?id=71L...0lr363&f=false

This link seems to indicate WR-T,

Found this list if it helps,

Re: ID required

According to According to "Combat Codes: A Full Explanation and Listing of British, Commonwealth and Allied Air Force Unit Codes Since 1938" by Victor Flintham, 248 Sqn were still using code WR once equipped with Mosquitoes (Jan '44 - Feb '45). The book lists LR363 as WR-X as an example. However - I have found other errors in this book, so it must not be taken as hard fact.

For additional interest, see this resource also about LR363 from the ASN crash database. http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=70568

Re: ID required

Thanks guys.

Revi, that is the list I have.

Another question: why would the a/c have a code WR months after it was suppose to be have been DM? I could understand if the a/c was already with the squadron but the Mosquito came well after the code change had taken place.

Maybe your date for "code change" is inaccurate? Maybe code change wasn't a priority with that pesky war and all?
