They (SG 103)were sent to attack the beach head very late in the afternoon, low and very close to the deck. They were spotted around 2050 by the 357FS and 354FS of the 355th FG and virtually annihilated between Janville and Chartres. My father was flying his first day of Combat and shot one of them down.
