Chris,

I do not show any USAAF claims for this date. The closest I have is a claim between 2300 Sept 4, and 0035 Sept 5, for a damaged Ju-188. The location is given as "scramble from Falconara". This was by a crew of 255 Squadron flying a Beaufighter VIf. I would be doubtful that it matches your loss.
